Place of origin
Topaz is a typical gas-forming hydrothermal mineral produced in granitic pegmatite, acid volcanic crystal caves, volcanic rocks and high temperature hydrothermal tungsten-tin quartz veins. Topaz is produced all over the world.
World famous places are Brazil, Russia's Ural and Pakistan's Catalon. The most important gem-quality topaz is produced in Minas Gerais, Brazil, where the topaz is yellow, deep yellow, pink, blue and colorless. In 1940, a topaz crystal was found in Brazil, weighing 240.25 kg, crystal clear and flawless. Catalon in Russia and Ural in Pakistan is a rose-red topaz with Cr. Most of the world's topaz is produced in Brazilian granitic pegmatites, including varieties of various colors, with a maximum crystal weight of 117 kg.
Sri Lanka is also a more important place to produce. Its topaz is mainly blue, green and colorless.

China's topaz production is produced in Inner Mongolia, Jiangxi, Xinjiang, Guangdong, and Yunnan.
